• Director of the branch of the Ministry of Transport: Eastern Province witnessed the implementation of (45) road projects with more than (5) billion riyals

    The monthly Tuesday meeting at Asharqia Chamber held on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 with the presence of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chamber, Abdul Hakim bin Hamad Al-Ammar Al-Khalidi, as well as a number of businessmen, media and interested parties.

    The meeting was attended by members of the board Bandar bin Rafi al-Jabri and Najib bin Abdullah al-Sihaati, and managed by the Secretary-General of the Chamber Abdulrahman bin Abdullah Al-Wabil.

     

    The Director General of the Ministry of Transport in the Eastern Province, Engineer Ahmed bin Ali Al-Ghamdi, stressed the importance of the logistics sector.

    He pointed to the continuous coordination with the business sector to develop infrastructure for road projects, which are the artery of the economic sector in the region.

    He explained that the Ministry is working on a number of vital projects that will be an added value to the eastern, and a distinctive mark proud of the region.

    He pointed out that the most prominent of these projects will work to decipher the traffic jams caused by the use of trucks for public roads.

    He stressed that the new projects will benefit the business sector as it will facilitate the movement of goods between the industrial cities and the port and facilitate the movement of staff and residents better and a shorter period of time.

     

    During the meeting, Engineer Al-Ghamdi said that the Eastern Region is witnessing a dynamic movement to implement a number of road projects and bridges in addition to ongoing maintenance projects, according to high standards of quality.

    He pointed out to several projects that the Ministry branch in coordination with the Secretariat of the region is planning to open in the next few months, which will be a milestone that will facilitate traffic to road users.

    Al-Ghamdi pointed out that the transport projects, including the roads and railway lines in the Kingdom are witnessing large projects aimed at facilitating the mobility of citizens and residents and provide multiple options that are commensurate with their needs and potentials.

    He stressed that the Kingdom seeks to provide transportation services in accordance with international standards and high standards that reflect the real picture of the possibilities of the Kingdom in accordance with Vision 2030.

    He pointed out that the economic and trade movement in the Kingdom requires constant follow-up of transport by developing its capabilities and tools.

     

    Al-Ghamdi added that the strategy of the Ministry of Transport included a vision for the future to provide an integrated transport sector covering all modes of transport to meet the needs of the Kingdom of the future and is characterized by safety, effectiveness, efficiency and technological development and promotes and promote economic development.

    It also provides a healthy and safe environment for members of the community, including raising the safety level in the transport sector by reducing the mortality rate and accidents in roads, increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the performance of the transport sector in terms of the implementation of projects time, budget and quality required, and increasing reliance on the autonomous resources of the transport sector through income from road assets.

     

     

    Al-Ghamdi said work is still underway at the Ministry's branch in the Region to implement (45) road projects with a total cost of (5,057,778,454) billion riyals that are including the Northern Region (Hafr al-Batin – Al-qariyah Al-Olaya - Nayriya - Khafji), number (13) projects at a total cost of (1,644,207,173) riyals, and the Central Region (the capital of Dammam - Jubail - Qatif - Ras Tanura - Abqaiq) with the number of (20) projects at a total cost of (1,539,425,816), as well as the Southern Region (Al-Ahsa – al-Udayd - Salwa - Haradh) with 12 projects at a total cost of (1,874,145,465) riyals.

    The branch also works on the operation, maintenance and cleanliness of the Ministry's roads in the Eastern Province with a length of (7,500) km through (12) road maintenance contract and lighting and electricity contract at a total cost of (500) million riyals, in addition to (47) preventive maintenance projects at a cost of (1.200) billion riyals.

     

    In conclusion, the Chairman of the Chamber, Abdul Hakim bin Hamad Al-Ammar Al-Khalidi, honored the Director-General of the Ministry of Transport in the Eastern Province honored Engineer Ahmed bin Ali Al-Ghamdi, with a commemorative shield.​
